Hello to everybody. I am new at RevLeft.
Is there anybody here interested in Greek music? I think that there are at least two great greek composers, Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis. The first one is as well a famous leftish activist who was exiled by the natinalistic junta regime of Greece(1967-1974) and whose revolutionary songs were also illegal in Greece at that era. Does anybody have an opinion about these two composers? I would like to learn what he/she thinks about them. If you do not know them and you would like to have some info about them you can visit

www.mikis-theodorakis.net and
www.hadjidakis.gr

Do you live in Greece, pal? Or somewhere else?
Anyway, when you check it out, tell me your opinion.
Unfortunately in the site of Mikis Theodorakis, there is not any sample of his music.

In the site of Manos Hadjidakis there are some samples. Click at the little triangle near at the "news" and you will find a list of songs available for you to listen to.
Unfortunately all the songs are available at an instrumental version, without the vocals of the original version. I do not know why the creator of this site preferred this instrumental version.

Anyway listen to "Contessa Esterhazy". I think it is a great song.
