Powerpop

Not sure if anyone has heard powerpop but there are many awesome bands that could be considered power pop. bands like big star and the raspberries set the stage but it wasnt until the late 70's that powerpo really took off.

the nerves, the scruffs, 20/20, the shoes and dwight twilley are amongst the biggest powerpop names. the biggest commercial powerpop type band imo would be cheap trick.

Anyone like any of these bands or the power pop genre?

Never heard of these bands but judging by there names i would guess no. Powerpop could include a wide range of music though. Many of these new "hip" bands like the strokes or whatever i would consider like neo-new wave or commercial tame garage rock. Usually their just plain shitty though and it's better to just go back to the classics.
