Finally someone fights back against political correctness, but it has failed.
The Muslims complaints about the cartoon that the Danish and subsequent European newspapers printed was fair enough. Our free press isn't intended to please everyone. But why have governments been backing down to their protests?
Jacques Lefranc was the editor of the Frecnh daily France Soir who has been sacked by the owner of the paper, incidentally a Frecnh-Egyptian, who said he had made the decision as a, "powerful sign of respect for the intimate beliefs and convictions of every individual"
This is crazy. Even for Muslims on this community, surely you agree? I see no problem with Muslims being angry about it, but for everyone to back down so whimpishly is absurd. Some people don't agree with the British paper "The Sun"'s page 3 feature. Nobody changes that. People disagree with the way tabloids invade privacy. Nobody changes that. I disagree with nearly everything the Daily Telegraph prints, but I would never support a move to ban it. I would actively oppose such an idea.
I know this is a big story which has been regurgitated over and over, but I haven't noticed it on any of the forums so decided to see what people thought. I'd especially like to hear the views of Muslims whose possible anger I would understand, but would fully expect anyone on this board to support a free press.
