Subcomandante Marcos
12th March 2003, 01:31
For years Chile has tried to sign a Free Trade Treaty (FTT) with the US, finally last december both presidents approved it. Everything was going sooothly and the chilean community was cheerful about his economic 'imrpovement' (or slavery as i like to call it). But from the resent events things have changed.
As a non-permament memebr of the security council Chile has the right to vote on the Irak issue. The president, Presidente Lagos, has always said he does not support war but wants to disarm irak one way or another (a middle point argument). As the voting gets closer the presion is palpable, it has even been proven that the US has been spying on Chile and Mexico, and Psycho-Bush with Cocksucking-Blair (our 21th Century superheros) has called Lagos several times demanding a position along side the US.
With this March 17 deadline the President has said he doesnt agree and the most likely scenario in a voting is an abstence or a vote against, this triggered the US to doubt the FTT (which ha to go through the senate for a final approvement) and demand changes which jeopardizes the treaty and brings a decade of negotiations to the floor.
This is the way Capitalism works for southamerican countries...
