I listen to a bit of crust, but wanted to get a broader idea of the genre by finding more bands.

Currently I listen to stuff like:

Aus Rotten
Behind Enemy Lines
Against Empire
Amebix
Hellshock
Doom

And maybe some others.

Anyone know of some good ones? Maybe give me an idea of their sound (in relation to other bands, or genres, etc) and their political stances, etc?

I'm pretty much looking for anarcho-crust. :)

Crust punk is the extreme evolution of Hardcore punk. The genre might be considered hard to listen to and very abrasive, using elements of anarcho-punk and grindcore to create a unique sound that can either be fast and leaning to grindcore, or slow and mopey and/or melodic. It was originally called stenchcore. Although not the same genre, crust is closely related to d-beat, anarcho-punk, thrashcore and grindcore.

Lyrics to crust songs tend to be dark, and based around politics and current events and even some human emotion; topics such as nuclear destruction, environmentalism, racial equality, squatting/non-conformity, apocalypse, abolishing sexism, animal rights, veganism/vegetarianism, religious control, death (and/or escaping life) and anarchism are common. Crust is one of the darkest subgenres of punk, and also is one of the least recognizable as punk, in terms of sound. Elements of the crust sound can be heard in many Anarcho-punk bands, such as those signed to Profane Existence, Mortarhate Records, Havoc Records, & Life is Abuse Records.

Anarcho-punk (sometimes known as peace-punk) is a subgenre of the punk rock movement consisting of groups and bands promoting specifically anarchist ideas.

I love my wiki, so I'm quite acquainted with that information. I just wanted more specific information, such as what are good songs or albums from given crust bands.

His Hero Is Gone is modern crust, not like 80's crust e.g. Aus Rotten, personally I prefer Aus Rotten over His Hero Is Gone, but everyone is entitled to there own musical opinions :), but yeah the song Monument To Thieves would be a good one by His Hero Is Gone to download so that you can hear them and make your own decision

You guys are spammers! Get out of my thread!

I'll check out your reccommendation though Ian. If I can get away from my hampsters first. ;)

One thing A-C, Dead Kennedy's are neither crust, nor anarcho-punk. Just left-wing 'ol school punk.
