Has anyone here read Pride & Prejudice? What are your thoughts on it? I'm curious 'cause this book is required reading this year for my English class.

Sorry I never saw this earlier, and it is probably best if you have started it before I comment, but; this is one of the worst books I have ever had the misfortune of reading. I also had to study Emma (also diabolical), and I do not envy you. Jane Austin's style is pretty poor, at times you wonder whether or not she has heard of full stops.
The (for want of a better word) "plot" is almost non-existant, at least in a substantial sense of the term. Instead the writing is solely about mild-mannered interaction between one snob and another. Reading about such a poor subject is bad at the worst of times, but she doesn't even make it intense, it is just boring.
Jane Austin would be at the top of my personal book burning, actually she might be the sole provider of fuel.
