For fear of being labelled as shit-chat and bullied over it, I will explain. I was explaining my views of a government's contract with the people to a friend (a dorky one), and he called me Dr. Doom. Now, a question for all of you geeks out there (if they do exist). Was Doctor Doom a socialist or a fascist? Thanks and sorry.

LOL! I'm not sure, but Captain America must have been a fascist. :)

True. Patriotic fuck. Omega Red was cool, though. and So was Proletariot Avenger or whoever.

LOL. The Red Skull was a Nazi. I believe Magneto could be classified as a Stalinist. :) Spiderman a Socialist? Hmm..he always did hate working for that capitalist newspaper "The Daily Bugle", which constantly printed propaganda against Spidey.

This is sad...but fun. It seems like a lot of the bad guys within the comics are of "deviant" political organizations. Trying to suplant the minds of the young and the minds of 25 year old geeks. I get the feeling that most of the superheroes are Left-Wing however. The Congressional ban on mutants seems very conservative in nature. but those goody-good jerkoffs like Superman and Cap. America are certainly not socialist. You actually are seeing more chaotic character types within comics by the way I see it. But I know very little on this issue except for the 10-15 comics I actually read when I was much younger. Too bad we cant have Old Friend and Dark Capitalist argue on this, though. They'd go wild haha
I do remember one episode of the cartoon where Colossus or Sentinel, whoever was the Russian Metallic Man, was brainwashed into believing he was a traitor to the USSR. That was interesting, if not an obvious sort of propoganda. A lot of the good guys end up pissed at the US government though.

Oh my god, I have spent too long on this topic. I feel so puny.

I used to collect comics like crazy when I was a kid. I stopped probably about eight years ago, I'm 17 now. I know it's pretty dorky, but I wouldn't mind starting up again. Comics are fun. I have a bookshelf full of them, and some are old ones the belonged to my dad. His range from the late 50's to the late 60's. He has one with a baseball article which states that Babe Ruth holds the record for the most homeruns in a single season. That made me laugh out loud, since that record was originally broken over 42 years ago, and three people have surpassed it: Maris, McGwire, Bonds. What the hell am I doing? I'm rambling on about comics and baseball. This clearly does not belong here. :( LOL.

Referring to your original question-"Dr. Doom was a man with a problem. The trouble with Dr. Doom was that he was a perfectionist and he sustained a small scar underneath his chin and he couldn't live with that scar. He encased his entire face in a mask of steel, and of course that made him different from you and I. He would say in his own mind, 'Why haven't you got a scar? Why am I the only guy with a scar?' This guy had a definite problem, and he would solve that problem by trying to put you in his own category."-Stan Lee.

R..i..g..h..t....I guess I'd simply classify him as a whacko. That kid was calling you a whacko. :)

There is an old comic book called The People's Heros. It featured four super heros; the ones I can remember are Molotov, Hammer, and sickle. I'll find from a friend the link to the comic book tomorrow.

Cool. In Mallrats, another excellent movie brought to you by Kevin Smith, Stan Lee says he is most like Dr. Doom because nobody like him as a child.

Mallrats. Talk about an awesome movie. In my opinion it's the best out of the five. Yeah, Stan Lee was cool in that.

Yeah, that was the best. Dogma was a close 2nd though.

This is related, kinda, but has anyone noticed how superheroes change with the times? it's so cool, you get twats like superman giving in to complex depressed dudes like spider man. There was this thing I read but I can't remember it now talking about 3 or four of the big comic book heroes. my fave will always be the crow (although technically i guess he doesn't count).
