Soldiers/Revolutionaries and dealing with the fear of death.

Are there any methods that soldiers/revolutionaries use in order to deal with death? The natural instinct tell us to avoid situations where we risk our lives, and many people get emotionally, mentally or physiclaly sick, sometimes permanently, bceause of the constant fear of death.

Are there any known (or lesser-known for that matter) methods for dealing with the fear of death?

In other words: "There is a great chance of dying, even suffering a horrible death, my family will be devasted, but who cares about them, I am going to die anyways"?

Well yes.

We are going to die and most likely we will not get any kind of choice about how we die. Therefore why not just accept this simple fact and live as fulfilling lives as possible.

If destroying class society and wage slavery seems like something that could "fulfil" you, then do it.

'Cause what ya' gotta' remember, is that whenever we die people whom we are close to, will get upset.

Historical progress happens through human beings often having to risk life and limb to make it happen. Without humans taking major risks, there would be no human progress. It's that simple.

Having said that, there's nothing glorious or romantic about death. We want future generations to live under conditions of freedom, material abundance and peace, and many of us may be willing to risk our lives to achieve this. Like the saying goes, 'if you must die for something, die for something greater than yourself'.
