so we all know that camilo died in a plain accident...but do you believe that because i just was in cuba and there the people said that it was fidel who killed him because he just had some other political thoughts and that camilo could be the cuban leader...do you know anything special?

I know that Camilo was one of Fidel's most trusted soldiers. I don't think that Fidel killed Camilo for two reasons: a) At the time that Camilo died, the goverment was just starting to build itself up and Fidel needed all the help he could get at such a time of crisis. b) If Che never suspected that Fidel killed Camilo then why should I? Besides, Camilo was Che's best friend and he would have abandoned the Revolution if he had suspected of Fidel's involvement in Camilo's death.

Well i know that Camilo was an anti-communist (apparantly) but he wasn't a capitalist either. I admire alot of the things Fidel has done for Cuba but something tells me he is secretly a bit dodgy, i dunno why i jst think that way lol.
Hmm i'm not sure if he did or didn't kill Camilo but i think maybe Fidel thought it was a spy US plane and ordered it to be shot down and then noticed it was Camilo's so he made a cover up? lol thats jst a dodgy accusation which could of happened.

comrade camillo cienfuegos was born to anarchist parents, however he himself was a marxist-leninist and one of the leading figures of the cuban revolution.

Camilo's father and brother were radical leftists but Camilo himself wasn't a totally devoted communist though his participation in land reforms and workers' congresses must be noted. The story that Fidel was responsible for Camilo's death has been mainly spread by the Cuban exile community in the US and therefore is not very reliable.

In John Lee Anderson's book, it says that Castro could have been the one who is behind Cienfuegos death, but as Big Boss said, Che never suspected that Fidel killed him. Though I don't think he would have abandoned the revolution if he did suspected Fidel, Che was the revolution, he probably would have tried to get explanations from Fidel and would have died earlier...

You are probably right Vaquera, but it has to be taken in consideration the fact that Che and Camilo were really close friends, probably even closer than Fidel. For example: The fact that at the time of his departure from Cuba to the Congo, the only picture hanging in his bedroom was one of Camilo. You could be right about him demanding explanations from Fidel but in my opinion, I think he would have taken it farther than that.

I have also heard some stupid things like that about Cienfuegos's death, such as Che shot down Camilo,ect... Fuck all! In 1965, when Che left Cuba to Congo secretly, the US and Western press always said that Che was jailed or killed by Fidel. Just a method of dirty capitalist propaganda. I don't care.

so i don't know but i really think that fidel wanted to kill camilo because in my point of view he was just a person who could stop him and who could get those things he wanted to have...about the thing with che: for sure he didn't say "hey man, i've just killed your friend"...i think he didn't knew it and he believed just that the airplain got lost in the sierra meastra...would you believe one of your best friends or would you think that it's his fault...just think clearly...and as i know fidel also started to be against che-not exactly against him but he started to stop helping him and he didn't trust in him...and why:because he was afraid because the people like che more than him and don't want him as jefe maximo again...(ok i've talked to many cuban people from the gouvernment and we had many discussions and that was my point of view at the end on my journey home)

I don't understand why you thought so of Fidel but I am just wondering that if Che couldn't know what exactly happened with Camilo, how did you know about that? I don't think that just because Che didn't doubt Fidel he couldn't kill Camilo but I don't believe in anything that aren't proven.

it's kind of proved that fidel did that but it's just the way of cuban saying and i've talked to some politicans there and to some people who knew camillo and all the other guys..but i just posed a question to get your way of thinking...

Less than a year after their victory, on October 28 1959, Camilo’s Cesna-310 mysteriously disappeared over the ocean during a night flight from Camagüey to Havana. An immediate search was called, but the plane was never found.
Over the years, some have charged that Camilo was "probably killed by Castro," but historians seem to agree that Camilo's death is more likely to have been an accident, and not the result of foul play.
In the last public speech before his disappearance, Camilo declared, "Even if it brings the sky down on our heads, agrarian reform is on!" showing his full agreement with The Revolution.
"Camilo gave the impression he never thought about death," said Haydée Santamaría to Carlos Franqui for his book The Twelve, "but I think he had a premonition he would die young."
"I constantly imagine Camilo's reactions to things," added Celia Sánchez. "For me, he is still living."
On October 28 the children of Cuba throw flowers into the sea. "A flower for Camilo," they say.
