what are some good resources for people who:

1) are opposed to the Iraq war, but still have a lot of illusions about US foreign policy/history/monopoly-capitalism

2) don't know what "imperialism" is, besides a bad word

3) don't have time to read thick books or go to educationals (because of work, school, whatever)

i'm looking for audio book recommendations, short reading recommendations, or anything else that might be good

Lenin's Imperialism the Highest Stage of Capitalism isn't very big, maybe you should try that?

Most people wouldn't even bother reading that because of the name.

I'd recommend somebody more contemporary that can call upon modern examples.

Namely, Noam Chomsky. He's great...really.

What about the name?

Lenin's book is about Imperialism as a stage of capitalism. It talks about how bank capital plays a center role in imperialism and how this leads to violent policies like in WW1 and more recently the Iraq war.

Chomsky im guessing covers more the politics and history of Imperialism. I have read a bit of Chomsky. Both are worth reading, it's just you should read Lenin's book to get and understanding of what Imperialism is. And most good Communist do read Lenin's book and find Lenin's book central to understanding imperialism.

If you don't read Lenin's book, or something similar then you will make the same mistakes the Social Democrats make when it comes to imperialism.

I'd really like to find some quality reading resources that I could listen to on my frequent transit states in my life, as I am on the go quite a bit. Therefore audiobooks would be excelent. Dharma talks only go so far.

William Blum's book Rogue State is good as far as details of contemporary U$ imperialism. Lenin's book is required reading for trying to understand what imperialism is at a deeper level. Here are two movies that explain some things about amerikan imperialism:
