this movie isn't going to be biased and shown from a US point of view is it?

I seriously doubt it. Benicio Del Toro has visited Cuba a couple of times and the cuban people love him. For this movie he spent some time with the family of Che in Cuba and even Che's daughter Aliusha thinks that he is going to do a wonderful job. He respects the memory of such a big historic figure and he has inmersed himself in Che's writings and speeches for over two years. I know that this proyect will do good.

I love Benicio Del Toro even though I've only seen him in one movie...Traffic. I doubt he would be in a movie which is from a U.S point of view, but I'll be seriously pissed off and disappointed if it is. This movie will also be good for people to see what kind of a person Ernesto Che Guevara was. I hope this movie shows the honest truth and not modified bullshit. Look forward to it. :)
Edit: Very sorry for double post.Browser acting weird.

Did Che spend any time in NYC? I knew that Fidel Castro was quite fond of NYC, but I never knew that Che spent time there. Anyways, Benicio Del Toro doesn't look a thing like Che.

Did Che spend any time in NYC?
Of course. Che was there as part of the Cuban delegation on December 11, 1964 and delivered a speech before the 19th session of the General Assembly.

One important fact is that the movie will be based on the John Lee Anderson biography. I think that if it is based on one of (if not) the best biography of Che out there, then it will do good.

It will also be based on Ches 2 personal diaries The cuban and bolivan diaries.

I'm a Benicio fan (21 Grams, Traffic, the Way of the Gun, etc.) and I am a huge Che fan (see: communist revolution).
The only thing I don't like here is Hollywood.
But I have hopes. Hollywood has been known to be sorta lefty at times, at least before the Red Papers.

I hope that this movie will be really good because the last movie I've saw where's Che in the story is "Fidel" and I was very dissapointed how they presented him.

wait is it gonna be in english?, cuz motorcycle diaries was nice, but i would've liked it better in english.

I agree, Del Toro looks nothin like Che
His eyez are too beaty, the only thing he got perfectly right is the beard :D
I'll catch it when it comes out on DVD
I rather read Che's actual words, than a screenplay based on someone's interpretation of Che's words
Im pretty sure there will be some parts where they'll misinterpret something that he stood for
Simply because those who will fund and promote the movie will be regulated by the US gov, because unfortunately the movie will be shown in the US and subject to US screening and "censorship"
Why would they allow a movie to raise class consciousness, and possibly risk creating a united proletarian force?

This movie should be great. I'm not a fan of Del Toro, since i never heard of him before now :P hopefully im gonna like him. And well, i dont think it'll be promoted very much, since the american government will be totally against it. I dont think it's gonna be viewed in Kuwait either, since theyre such pro-america n stuff.. argh!! and theres no freedom of speech.. dammit... and movies are censored soo much that the running time is cut to half <<exaggeration! O well, i'll guess i'll order it off the internet and hope they dont confiscate it in the customs!
OR! i can buy an illegal copy <<a very good way to show ur hate towards corporations!

I read somewhere that a new film called "Tania" will be made. Tania was an Argentinian rebel who lived in Europe and accompanied Che to Bolivia. Perhaps someone has information on this. Thanks Comrades.

Should be good, hopefully. Del Toro isn't a bad actor. I really liked him in The Usual Suspects. He was good in Snatch as well (British gangster film - don't know if it got big in the US).

No film can have that kind of power. Not even one directed by Mel Gibson.

I'm exactly the opposite. I like it being in their native language. It adds a certain authenticity to the movie that I like. I don't like movies about people in different countries, but the people are speaking in english. As long as you can read, subtitles are great.

That is one kick ass movie. Very good.

Yeah, I won't be too happy if the movie is made in english. I don't mind reading the subtitles at all. Besides, Che never spoke english so if in the movie he is, then it won't be that authentic.
I hope that this movie will be really good because the last movie I've saw where's Che in the story is "Fidel" and I was very dissapointed how they presented him.
Please, don't see this movie. It's a bad representation of just about everyone in the Cuban Revolution, including Che.

I've never heard of this proyect before but if it is underway, then I want to learn more about it.

Didnt Oliver Stone also make a movie about Fidel Castro? Che appeared in it and his only line in the whole movie (eventhough he spoke a lot) was "execute him"

Yeah, I believe he actually made two. One was for TV and the other was a documentary. There respective titles are "Looking For Fidel" and "Commandante".
