How'd he get it? not necesarily an important question. I'm just curious. wonder where its at now. probably a museum.

According to the biography by John Lee Anderson, he started using it during the later phase of the Cuban revolution, after losing the military hat he had acquired from his fallen comrade Ciro Redondo.
This had been in a really bad condition after a long period of guerrilla warfare, but had been really dear to Che. After this he used the beret. Where it is now I have no idea..

It's actually at the Museo de la Revolucion in the former presidential palace in Havana, Cuba.

He actually had more than one beret. The one that he had during the Bolivian mission was confiscated by the soldiers that captured him. His watch was stolen by CIA agent Felix Rodriguez.
