Hello,

I’m reading a book called Petrodollar Warfare: Oil, Iraq and the Future of the Dollar by Clark, William R.
It talks about lots of things, but in a particular passage he makes insight to the fall of the British Empire, which started around 1870. As the British Empire began to weaken it, began to use more military action in order to stem its decline. This was obviously referenced to American imperialism in the Middle East currently.

So, do you people think that maybe we will see an increase in American military action, in order for the U$ to stop its decline? More Iraq’s?

Also, do you think the comparison between the British Empire and the U$ "empire" is one that stands up to historical evaluation from a Marxist perspective?

thanks peeps :)

I thought that we already had seen an increase in US military actions.
Unlike the british empire, the US doesnt openly refer to itself as an empire. Maybe i just read into it a little bit, but i kind of think this whole militaristic imperial thing and the supposedly impending crash of the dollar are all part of some elaborate consipracy. I highly doubt that they plan to remove their troops from Iraq or Afghanistan any time soon if ever. I suspect these will not be the last nations invaded by the US before the dollar crashing. If the US empire really did fall, it would fuck all kinds of shit up. They're the largest contributors monetarily to the UN, so basically thats the end of the UN right there. So after the collapse of the UN, US troops will still be stationed in regions of geopolitic importance. Granted, this is all speculation, but perhapes if the dollar really does crash, it will be then that we will see the full scale of their imperialism. Its all just a bunch of numbers in computers and shit anyway, it seems to me that their economy lies on very shaky foundations.

Hey,

Yeah I seem to sometimes wonder if things like this are a conspiracy. But on the other hand, just calling something a conspiracy and making a joke out of something can destroy its credibility when if it is actually true.

This subject, however I do not believe is a conspiracy. I say this because the bush administration, is full of neoconservatives, like Cheney and Wolfowitz who are very open about their desires to keep the U$ all powerful. Some even refer to the neoconservative agenda a "democratic Imperialism". Lol at the democratic part anyway.
