I've found it increasingly hard to survive on the internet. My problem is this; when conservatives gang up on me, I sort of have this mad Jean Grey/Phoenix like thing where if my "debating" prowess gets too stretched out I go nuts and turn into a dark entity that gets very angry at everyone and calls them "assjackets".
Anyway, seriously, Neo-Cons are driving me nuts, I'm getting tired of the way they put things on equal levels with well backed and forms opinions without a shred of defense, so I need some place to chill and see how other people handle it. I get tired of "Opinions" where none so strongly make sense to exist.
But, I still wanted a forum for political discussion. This is probably a chicken's solution, but hey, I eat a lot of chicken(though I don't feel entirely comfortable about it).
I'm from Ireland, I think I'm joined up with the Socialist party but I'm not entirely sure, and am also a great appreciator of the irony that America's declaration of independance is far more left wing in it's nature than any yank would have liked to believe.
I'm enonomically left and socially too. I'm big into rights and liberties and despise authoratarianism but still believe there are certain restrictions on what people can do with things like the media(incitement to hate is a big one, I don't think Pat Robertson would get on the air in the U.K. for instance) so I suppose I'm not entirely liberal. Some people will probably eat me for that, but being part of one of the most mocked and disrespected minorities, one that it's still acceptable to mock and disrespect, I've grown a great anger and hatred towards closed minded people.
But yes, I despise authoratarianism(does that have the right amount of letters?), and I also despise things like sexism in the work place(no long hair on guys) and also discrimination against alternative lifestyles and appearance. If someone wants purple hair let them damn well have purple hair, just like if someone wants to wear a purple skirt let them wear a damn purple skirt. It's not hurting anyone if they get used to looking at people like that, but it is hurting someone if they can't express themselves or look the way they feel inside. I think that forcing long term or near permanent changes on people for things which aren't even that outlandish is wrong and I think that prejudice stems from the same head as homophobia, racism and sexism and needs to be stamped out if we are to eliminate those as efficently as possible.
But, what I hate more than anything are people that enforce on you that you're being immature by having a problem with this. Because kids rebel, and you're rebelling, you're immature. I also hate logical fallacies. I hate those kind of people because they are societies safe guard mechanism, they keep telling people that until they believe it's true. The further I get away from school, the opposite happens than with most people; the further away I get the more I realise that our particular school system was a bunch of control freak nonsense that was utterly inefficent in setting us up with a life.
Well I hope I haven't offended anyone yet. Hello.
