Socialists view on War

So a socialst believes that war is not necessary in any case. why? I'm a socialist thorough all beliefs execpt for this. I believe War is necessary when a majority of the citizens agree that it has come to that. Not when a president has a vendetta. Can you be a socialist and still believe this idealoligy?
