Did DDR and USSR have something to do with each other?
and what was the real reason they both fell?

After the end of WWII, Germany was divided into several occupation zones. US, UK, French, and Soviet. The Soviet one became known as the DDR- Deutsche Democratische Republik (German Democratic Republic).

The reason they both fell is highly debatable. There are several thread in the forum regarding this.
