I am curious on your thoughts on Olof Palme (1927-1986), the murdered swedish prime minister.

I am of course aware that he was no communist.

But he was an anti-imperialist of some significance, and being too young to remember myself, I would like to know how especially the older members of this board remember his actions: his criticism against
the Vietnam war and apartheid, and his outspoken support for the Cuban revolution.
And, of course: who you think was behind his murder.

Here is a link to a wikipedia page about him.

Palme was part of the left wing of the swedish Social democratic party, was prime minister 1969-76 and 1982-86. He was shot in the back on the street while walking home from a movie theater, and his murder still remains unsolved. After his death
the Social democrats of Sweden have constantly moved towards the right on the political spectrum.
He made himself a lot of enemies around the world by condemning imperialism and
supporting PLO, ANC and other groups around the world. Personally I believe that his
murder could not have been a deed of a lone madman.
Perhaps the history will someday reveal the truth?

Hi everyone, excuse me for my rough nick. I think Olof Palme was a good follower for the past Swedish minister Tage Erlander. Olof built many good ideas and did develop the new rule "Folkhemmet" means peoples home, very good for the poor people. I think Olof Palme was almost too good cause he was very brave with his taughts.

He was really the man behind fixing Sweden to a almost perfect Country. There are many theories about his assassination, and thats an sensitive topic/issue.

Im almost certain that it wasnt Christer Pettersson.

And I also think that it was Swedens glory years when we had the strong socialist leader. There where jobs all over and the majority of the people where happy.

I miss Olof Palme. Surely he was more left than what the leader is today here. Will we ever have any one like him. Ive heard that Sweden where compared on those days to Cuba. (Very Nice)
