Hello comrades! ItalianCommie here!
I'm 16 and I've been a convinced communist since I was 13. I live in Vicenza, a city in the NorthEastern Venetian city of Vicenza(an hour's drive from Venice). I hate Venetans(not Venetians, ie Venice natives, because they're traditionally left wing)! They're such newlyenriched-slaves-of-capitalism-hypocrite-bigot-somewhatfascist-racist-ignoramuses-expoorfarmers-slaveminers-antienviromentalist-industrialist-nerds!
I'm a member of the Communist Refoundation Party, the largest communist party in Italy(7-10% of the vote, strong of just over 90000 active militants). Politically I'm a Trotzkyist-Leninist-Marxist, convinced that a wide consensus is necessary for social revolution. I'm also anti-american imperialism, in the sense that Italy has 113 american military bases, one of which,Camp Ederle, is IN the city centre. I see those chauvinistic capitalist whores march in front of me in the mainstreet! People hate them because they sometimes rape people( I'm not telling propaganda-whoppers, I'm serious!). Plus I'm an atheist.
Oh, I love listening to NIRVANA!
Well, here I am! Let's be friendly! :)

Well no. 45% of the party is against that. But who knows, some good may come out of it. If not, we'll topple their government(if they shall ever get to power in April) like back in '94. Our Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, the media tycoon, the richest man in Italy, the "ad personam" legislator, the almighty Bush arse licker, is devastating our environment, almost certainly encouraging the Mafia(during his "reign", almost nothing has been done to fight it), is encouraging YET MORE AMERICAN MERCENARIES to stay in Italy. The 113 american mil. bases cover 1/10th of Italy. My comrades and I have already dubbed this new land of "holiday resorts" as "ITALASKA". In my hometown alone there are about 10000 stationed. Mr Berl. has also been forging a few alliances between him and a few hardcore neofascist parties like FORZA NUOVA. He's also given the Italian military "policing" powers. Could this be the prelude to another attempted neofascist coup, like in the sixties and seventies? :(
Anyhow, my party leader, comrade Bertinotti is having a TV showdown tonight with Mr Berlusconi. I'll keep you posted. ;)
Thankyou for the tip on the books, comrade Diego Armando. They shall be useful and instructive, surely.
Thankyou for your warm welcome, comrades/brothers/sisters/friends! :)

I am very interested in the political situation in Italy. You have reached further in your consciousness and militans than most. What is your opinion on the faceless, the "Senza volto"? What is the chanse for this non-candidate in the upcoming elections?

I have heard that they've got five points:
1: About amnesty for all prosecuted activists.
2: About an italian retreat from Iraq.
3: Close all [whatever those places are called where you store all fugitives before you decide what to do with them], CPTs and give citzenship to all fugitives.
4: About the precarisation on the labor market, and about a guaranteed income for all.
5: Legalize marijuana
----
By the way, what do you think of Amadeo Bordiga? Is he big in Italy? I guess Gramsci is more known, but do italians know anything about Bordiga?
What about the operaists like Tronti and Panzieri? I guess Negri is quite big though?
And Bernardo Bertolucci, is his films popular in Italy?

Although the "Senza Volto" have great political ideas, Rifondazione has almost the same ideas, and I find them selecting a candidate for elections a bit futile and contradictory to their own ideology. Because they are by definition "disobbedienti", basically a communism that is against a communist party and totally against any political institution, I believe it's just some kind of publicity stunt. They won't stop me from sustaining my party. However I do respect them as an effectively revolutionary entity, in Italy they are renowned for their direct attacks on anti-ecological construction sites. A few months ago 200 of them sacked a construction site that's building a stupid ineffective moving dam to "protect" venice from high tides, making the beautiful lagoon literally a puddle of stagnant water.
1: Amnesty for all prosecuted activists. 2: Italian retrest from Iraq. 3: Close all CPTs and give citizenship to all fugitives. 4: (Against) precarisation of the labor market, plus a guaranteed income for all.
Rifondazione has agreed to all these points in the last Central Comittee.
5: Legalize mariujuana
I don't think it's that important a political issue. I mean I love smoking the bong, who doesn't?
Bertolucci's films are very popular, the rest are still very important political "statements" inside the extreme italian left. I'm very Gramscian, but they all were great thinkers.
death88junkie, I love metal music too(Iron Maiden and stuff like that. I've been obsessively listening to nirvana for two years now.

Indeed, Italy has two states, San Marino and the Vatican, within its own borders. Not to mention a history of radical leftism, the Red Brigade, Antonio Gramsci, etc. Plus Italy host the worlds most prominent neo-fascist [Benedict].

Few people have even been to San Marino. However the Vatican still has quite a considerable influence on Italy. Now that that conservative bastard is now in power in that small-yet- so-influent-state, suddenly, guess what? All the right-wing parties are now thinking of abolishing ABORTION, a right that was obtained over thirty years ago... What twats.
The Red Brigades are still pretty much active, having killed in central Milan just two years ago a famous right-wing italian economist, Marco Biagi, the economic deregulator, one of the advocates of the precarisation of the labor market.
The mafia continues to prosper, staying in the dark, without to much coverage from the media.
Commumists continue to gain (both parliamentary and extraparliamentary parties) militants and sympathisers. :)
The italian premier Berlusconi continues to have in his hands 90% of the media, controlling both the three state channels(Rai1, 2, 3) and the three major private ones, under his company Mediaset(Italia1, channel 5, and channel 4), plus RCS, the nation's main publishing company which controls Italy's major newspapers. Imagine someone in America with powers combined with George Bush's executive power, Rupert Murdoch's control on the media, Condoleeza Rice's Secretary of State and Donald Rumsfelds grip on the military. :(

I love Italy and it is my dream to go there. I have always respected Italians whether they are right wing <_< or left wing :D .
I'm new to and so far I have found this site VERY interesting and informative.
We need all the help we can get to spread communism.
Hi my Italian comrade.

I do not respect the most dishonest Italians, wether they be left-wing or right-wing. Italian dishonesty and corruption is a scourge, a disease that eats the Italian Republic from inside. And the're all over the place! In the street, in the banks, in the government... When you talk to the average Italian about this, all he will say is: "Oh, well, that's Italy!". Italy is undoubtedly the most corrupt countries in Western Europe.
I do like the fact that you meet many communists around the place. Revolution in Italy has a great potential. In my school out of 876 students, there are at least 100 communists, in my 25-strong class there are 5 of them.
Vladislav travel guide: the best places to find communists are in Tuscany(places like Firenze, but especially Livorno) and Emilia Romagna( around Bologna).
Anyway, what's the situation in your countries, comrades?

However I was born in Italy so I'm trilingual.
I go to England twice a year, to go and see my grandparents. They live in Wiltshire, close to Melksham, not far from Stonehenge. Where do you live in the UK, Red Rebel?
