That's stupid..why should he apologise on behalf of his country? And who are you to demand an apology of someone you do not know?

It's not tha lagnuage that's imperialist, it's some of the people who speak it.

The fact that they speak English has nothing to do with it, nor does "not learning English" have any impact on them whatsoever (except that one of their enemies will be less effective).

Who cares what language things are spoken in? Its the words that count. That might be easy for me to say, English being my only language, but the language Che spoke is irrelevant - Hitler spoke German, does that mean no German-speaker can be communist?

Camarada, no seas tonto.

Long life the proletarian fighters of the world!

Since u seem to fancy el Espanol

Unos ejemplos: Somoza, Pinochet, Franco, y Batista

Ademas, no solo Cuba habla espanol...

Spain had an empire once you know and it killed a lot of south americans

and if you speek turkish, turkey also had an empire.

making them both imperialist nations.

It may be imperialist language, but really the language itself is a result of the oppression of the Celts and other tribes of Britain hundreds of years ago. So really, it is the language of the underdog-turned oppressor. I think you'll probably find it is one of the most diverse languages in terms of other languages contributing to it.

That said, Im not proud to speak English, it's just a language :P

I think you will find it is a mix of languages because there was no such language as english when the celts were driven to the corners of britain.

boosh logic
14th January 2006, 14:14
Thats what I mean - it is a diverse language, but it will be built upon the basis of the Celtic language, as the Romans, Saxons, etc built their own langauge into a combination over the years, leading to English.

I can see where you're coming from but I just didn't explain myself very well - sorry.

And if George Bush could learn to speak English so can you Comrade communist_(turk)

When has GWB learned to speak English? He must have taken some classes since I last saw him on TV. Nukular Weapons :D

Posting here is great for learning English, I have a dictionary on my desk, by the computer all the time. When you have to look up a word in a dictionary, it usually sticks
in the vocabulary.

Hello, Zdravo, My name is Marina and I am a left-wing Serb from Bosnia-Hercegovina. I would just like to introduce myself and say hello to communist turk. I would also like to point out that it is unjust to generalize an entire nation based on the actions of some; I mean, it is true that the turkish ottoman empire was an empire and imperialist but he does not have to apologize for something another Turk did. Remember, all it takes for a rule to be proved false is one counter-example.

First i want to welcome you Turk...
I agree with The Sentinel..im not a native speaker of English and my spelling is a catastrophe  , but its really good posting around here, i find my spelling improving!! :D
And for Valdislav salam alekom or asalam alekom is a greeting in Arabic rather than Persian ( it's related to Islam).
If you want to say How are you in Persian you have to say: Chetory?
But i dont know much in Turkish.
Any way welcome Turk.

Communist Turk, why do you consider Greeks, Russians, and Americans to be your enemy?

Also, just because a language is used by imperialists, that does not mean that learning that language is not useful or that you should not learn it

hello communist (turk) !

My friend cccpcommie, I am Cypriot and Cyprus suffered from Turkish for many years. I respect communist (turk) too because he is communist. You asked him to apologise to Greek and Russian. Turkish should apologise to other countries too like Cyprus but don't excpect to apologise to anyone!
