This movie is deeply offensive in evey imaginable way.
First, you have these two American guys backpacking through Europe.
One is a shy fellow and the other is a boisterous, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, idiot who leads his friends at any expense in the pursuit of pussy and drugs. This evetually leads them to some town in Slovakia where they get caught up in an international conspiracy to capture and trap tourists in an old factory where they're tortured by really rich sick bastards. After his two other friends disappear the "leader" of the group discovers the truth and manages to heroically kill a handfull of the perpetrators and save one of the victims. The movie actually expects us to get behind this complete ass-hole.
I, for one, was hoping that the cocky and chauvinistic American would lose more than just a couple of fingers.
Aside from the socially repulsive hero, the amount of detail at which the torture is depicted is simply nauseating. A point is made of showing absolutely every nasty detail that goes on, from torching a girl's face to to smashing a guy's skull in to chainsawing various body parts.
I just gave away the ending, by the way.
So don't see it.

I heard this movie wasn't in the least bit entertaining. It was just a stupid, distasteful movie. Not worth seeing.

I just want to go see it so I can watch the gruesome deaths. Did you actually expect a plot out of this? I think that was pretty dumb right there.

A pathetic, minimal plot, yes.
Seriously people always put too high expectations. Just take things for what they are and then you won't be disappointed.

Yes, they are assholes. That's why bad shit happens to them! You didn't understand that those are the kind of people that die in horror movies? How were they homophobic?

The director based this movie off of a story he heard. I'm not sure if it's true or not but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. The story was that in some country in Eastern Asia (I forgot which one) you can pay to shoot someone just to see what it feels like. That's the basic premise of this movie.

How was he a complete asshole?

The director was inspired by a Japanese director's rather popular "gorror" movies. He was so inspired by this director's movie that he actually wrote him in a scene of the movie. Remember that Asian dude whom the main character asks how the art is to? That was him. I actually found it less gory than I thought it was. I believe the gore aspect makes people look at themselves in a more realistic light, as a material being and not a mystical creature which many people believe even if they don't realize it. Anyways, nothing wrong with a little gore. I thought the goriest part was when he cut that girl's eye off and all that shit came out. Nastyyyy!

Somewhat. It's still worth seeing.

I thought it was good. I want to see it again.
Didn't they show killing an animal?
I don't think so.

Haha especially because all they advertised was the gore aspect of it. I was surprised at how well the storyline was compared to what I thought it was going to be.
I really do think that there is more to this movie than the gore aspect. Such as criticizing the attitude of certain guys towards women, showing how far capitalists will go to make a buck, etc...
