I like that article a lot. I'm also very happy that the Turkish guys rejected the US proposal. I have to wonder about this Khalid Shaikh Mohammed guy, however. He is said to have "masterminded" the attacks on the world trade centre. I guess bin Laden is just a figure head, right?

Powell is a smart man. I have heard theories that if Powell had gained the Republican Nomination he would not be in the mess that Bush is today. He is very smart, but unfortuantely because he is in America and black he gets the shaft to the dumb white man.

Although it's nice to see some opposition, I don't think this gives us any more hope of stopping the war. Bush will attack Iraq with or without Security Council authorization. He's made that clear. An accumulation of force against him will certainly help to stop him though, and this only adds to that.

Yeah, it's great to see Turkey isn't letting the U.S. in. Those people who voted against it have some real guts, and should be admired. Also, I agree that Powell is better than Bush, but he's still a conservative who goes against the ideals of the majority of the people on these forums. Perhaps if he was president we wouldn't be in this mess. But think, if the man that was actually elected was president, we definately wouldn't be in this mess. I'm no Al Gore fan, but you get the idea.

Turkey standing up will only give other middle powers the courage to stand up. Come on Jean take the lesson!!

One wonders if Bush will even take Powell's advice. Personally, I hope he doesn't back down and makes a big fool of himself next week at the security council.
