Will the pro US Iraqi government abandon all its cities, move all its citizens out into the country side and force them to work on farm collectives at gun point, while systematically executing all its educated citizens, to rid the country of western influence? Probaly not.
However, large amounts of Iraqi citizens have and are dying, maybe not to the extent of the Pol Pot era, but after a few more years it could come close.

I thought this was an interesting piece on the current situation in Iraq...
A Snake with a Hundred Heads (http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/spiegel/0,1518,388506,00.html)
The writers begin their article by seeming to accept a number of official American mythologies...but the further into it you read, the worse the occupation looks.
Yes, I think civil war is now pretty much a certainty...it has become a situation in which none of the forces there see any future in "things as they are".
It is a brilliant illustration of the futility of U.S. imperialism...and it would not at all surprise me to see several million deaths in Iraq before the "dust clears".

Unfortnatly American Imperilism is not futile. They always turn a proffit at others misery. The tides will turn one day and the USA will lose its empire. If enough South American countries join with Chavez and Castro, and the US is stupid enough to attack Iran that day could be relativly soon.

No, it's not. Chances are Shia Islamists will take control of the country, as opposed to the extreme agarian communists (the Khmer Rouge, or Communist Party of Kampuchea) that took control of Kampuchea (Cambodia).

More on the impending civil war in Iraq...
The current security situation here has gotten much worse since the elections. (http://nyc.indymedia.org/en/2006/01/63013.html)

U.S. Copter Down in Iraq; 12 Believed Dead (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060108/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq)
It says 17 dead in one weekend! Another dozen dead in the rest of the week.
That's just US soldiers; apparently 200 Iraqis were also killed. :o

You shouldn't be such an apologist for Imperialism. I find it disturbing. These kinds of murderous hacks' (troops) deaths need to be celebrated. It is refreshing to hear after hearing so much pro America crap over here.
No, really. All kidding aside, why do you think the celebration of a country's peoples' struggle and resistance against an imperialist invasion is "disturbing"!? That is what I want to know!

You realize we've had so many "vehicle accidents" and crashes? Like that's the fifth (at least) helo to crash since the Insurgency began.
I wonder if they aren't crashes.... Wouldn't surprise me, the US Government lying to its own citizens

I'm all for celebrating major victory, but there's something a little off about cheering for each individual dead American.
And even if America is forced out by the insurgents what future for Iraq? Do you really believe they'll be better off once America leaves? If that's the case, then the war in Iraq was the right thing to do for the Iraqis.
