whydid lenin say imperialism was the highest stage of capitalism? many imperialist countries were still feudal, and expansion started in the 16th century.
anyways, saying it was the highest stage put all countries in ww1 apart from france and the states, when they were at entirely different stages of capitalism. no countries were ready for revolution, but it should have happened in britain first.
maybe lenin was optimistic about the prospect of revolution. i know because i am the same.
looking at britain today, this must be the highest stage, but with one problem: trade unions do not possess the power to cause a general strike and fight for justice and equality.
i tell a lie, there is another problem: the sun. that is really rather an apt name for that particular paper: it makes people blind. i, for one, find it particularly tasteless that murdoch would aim his right-wing views at the working class. if you ever get a chance to read the sun, notice how obtuse and rudimentary the rhetoric is.
the truly abonimable thing about the sun is that it supported thatcher during the strike. in the north, the miners have a joke: a man goes in to buy a sun and hides it in a dirty mag!
