What kind of laws would you people suggest that it is important to know being a UK citizen, and certain rights which you feel are handy for leftists to utilise?
I know this topic is probably overly general. I'm sorry.

I'm sorry but you will need to be more specific.

well, really I was asking this because the other day my mates were sitting on a bench outside a church with a few others sitting on the grass about 4 foot away from it (there's a path in between) and one of them asked another to pass them a bottle of drink. So my casually chucked the PLASTIC bottle at him (not hard obviously, just like a pass) and the cops were nearby and they asked for all my mates addresses and phone numbers on the grounds that it was an act of yobbish behaviour.
I was just wondering about what the law says about cops and stuff like that and obviously any others which knowledge about may come handy in everyday life.
Also and about the rights which citizens can use I was referring to like how the Black Panthers wielded guns and such. I have no intention of walking around with firearms, but I was wondering if there are any rights which entitle us to do things sort of like that (obviously less violentish) which some leftists on this board may utilise?
Like we have the right to assembley, association and free thinking

Mate, I think you just ran into some pedantic coppers....I really wouldn't worry about it. And you can hardly compare the situation the Black Panthers were under that forced them into the position they took to any kind of situation in the UK today.

I wasn't comparing the situation to anything like the circumstances surround the BPP, I was just giving that as an example of people using their rights.
I wasn't saying that because of this incident we're now going to go out armed, or take any further action because of that incident. But it's wise to know the law and instead of reading through textbook I'd ask on here, because I was sure some of the more active comrades would know some laws which come in handy here and there..

in new zealand we have community law centres - places you can go for free legal advice from lawyers. i used to pop in there whenever i had a question regarding the legality of somthing i was planning. maybe you have something similar in the uk.....

Are you still relating this to the bottle incident...or are you talking about powers to stop/search/take details in general?

There are citizens advice bureaus you can go to. Just look up police stop and search powers on google, you will find concise laws stating exactly what rights you have. There might now be exceptions due to the new terrorism acts like the 90 day detainment and searching without a warrant. But yeh, google or advice bureau.

Try YouRights.Org.Uk - just looked at it, it gives your exact rights and the exact powers the cops have.

apparently in the UK, if you are under 18, you could basically spit on a cops shoe, and get away with it because it is more trouble for them than it is for you if they detain you
dont quote me on it though
