View Full Version : NPR Letters: Changes in Latin America

NPR has read part of my somewhat extensive letter commenting on the Latin America situation. Even though they butchered it (as they do most) they actually expressed what I wrote somewhat accurately. Should I be surprised?

NPR stands for National Public Radio. It is the United States' radio version of PBS. Which is the Public Broadcast System. In can be heard nationwide from New York to LA.

Yes, it is somewhat surprising that they would publicize your e-mail. After all most national stations try to disassociate themselves from leftist thought. They probably thought your e-mail was interesting and took a novel approach with it. Stirring up debate after all is critical to the success of any type of media. However, since the portion that they read wasn't too radical in their minds, NPR didn't see any harm in it.

Not really. It's easier to get letters to the editor printed than you might think; this is the same kind of thing.

Thanks for bursting my bubble! :) This is my first time trying such a thing and I was surprised by the results.

Eh, shouldn't disappoint you, more the opposite. It's not a fluke and if you keep doing it you'll probably get more printed/read. Not every time, but a fair percentage of the time.

88.9 FM KNPR Las Vegas, NV - however it was on Talk of the Nation which is a show from Washington, DC that is heard on all NPR stations nationwide.

Every time I listen to NPR they seem to be at least moderately leftist. I am always tuning in during the wrong times apparently.

What's going to make you feel even worse is that the last time I called Talk of the Nation (a popular current events talk show on NPR) I personally spoke to Bobby Seale.
