Alright well the tories are probably going to form gov but dont worry, they wont be able to get alot of evil done.
Social policies concerning:gay marriage, abortion, "Christian morality"(whatever the fuck that is) wont go too far being as Steven Harpers gov will be minority. Why is that a factor? Because the 3 parties in opposition are of the left, NDP and Liberals pushed the same sex union bill threw parliament and Duccep? Well I have a picture of him chillin at a gay pride parade so Im confident that the tories brand new gay marriage policy will be blocked.
I hope....What do you all think will happen, to the social and economic, and dont bother blabing about how much of a moron Mulruney is, I know already and he isnt running for pm.

How do you figure?
Every poll I've seen still puts the Liberals ahead popularly, and, as we all know, they are far better distributed than any of the other national parties.
They're going to lose a whole bunch of seats (especially in Québec), but they're still going to form the government.

Personally, I just see another liberal minority government, but more of a minority than last secession. Most of the seats will be lost probably to the NDP or bloc.

I think that the seats lost by the Liberals will be distributed more or less evenly betweeen the NDP and the Conservatives. IF this leads to a minority Conservative government, it won't last more than a few months before another election is called. At that point, hopefully the NDP will have gained enough support, and enough people will be sick of the Liberals, and disapointed in/terrified of the Conservatives.
I don't think that the Liberals will win this election though, and IF they do, they'll be so weak that another election would be imminent.
I really have high hopes for the NDP in the next few elections.

......? If your idea of confronting the fact that the tories might form gov is fooling yourself into thinking that the NDP will one day be in charge....
Can we talk about what the post was origionaly about? Where will we go with a conservative gov, and dont just say something dumb like"where all going to hell in a handbasket!!"
And this is all HYPETHETIAL!

Somewhere not unlike where we are today.
A minority Conservative goverment would be very similar to a minority Liberal one, except on the executive issues, like foreign policy. I'm sure we'd see George Bush on much friendlier terms with Prime Minister Harper.
Beyond this though, there's very little that a Harper government could do. It certainly cannot live up to its campaign promises of massive tax-cuts and "family values". Realistically, we'd see very little motion on these issues because the NDP/Bloc/Libs would never let is pass.
An ideal situation, of course, would be the NDP and Bloc having enough seats that they could run the table without the Libs, but that has a zero percent chance of happening.
I really have high hopes for the NDP in the next few elections.

I'm perdicting a liberal minority as well but IF the conservatives do get in with a minority the issue that will boot them from office faster then Joe Clarke will be this lowering the GST. It is a huge part of there election campaign and it would have to be pushed through the house of commons ASAP. Problem is no one will support it.
What are your veiws on that potential scenario.

I don't ever really recall saying anything like that. More like if the liberals lose any seats, then they will probably be distributed by the bloc and NDP. They will gain a few seats, and the liberals will be more or a minority government than they were at the last parliamentary secession. In order for the conservatives to get any power, the liberals would have to lose 36 seats. The Cons have to do better in Ontario (they only received 31% of the vote). However, it is hard in Ontario because most Canadians here seem to link the policies of Mike Harris, to any conservative party. I don't understand it, but they do. Personally in my city (hamilton) there are a bunch of NDP signs, along with the Niagara area and St. Catherines. So in all honesty, I see the NDP picking up more than 19 seats.
Nevertheless, if there is a conservative government, there is a very good chance that parliament will collapse. Layton actually said that Harper would have to change a lot of the policies in order to get any kind of help from the NDP. Yet, with that being said there won't be a confidence vote for sometime. There will be no reason too.

The current situation within the plurality system means that the Conservatives could get 2% less of the national vote than the Liberals and still form a minority government.
Also, I wouldn't categorize the Liberal party as a leftist party. Their economic policies are center-right and internally they are very divided on social issues, such as same-sex marriage.

I do not accept your appologie. English, not my first fucking language and this isnt a spelling bee, go somewhere else if you want to make a mokery of someone.
You know what really pissed me off about this election tho, people constantly *****ing about how they called an election on xmas.
1. Its a fucking month after xmas.
2. It takes a whole 30 minutes to go and vote.
3. Theyre are people in Iraq who risk theyre lives to go vote.
I say its a very good xmas gift to be allowed to go vote. Fucking white trash down here, let me tell you they dont know how good theyve got it.

It rhetoric, and nothing more. After Martin and crew said Canada doesn't want a "christmas election", the national post had a poll (take as you may) two days later saying that 78% of voters don't mind a x-mas election. It was just a political move to discredit Harper as "unsensative" and unconnected to the Canadian public.
Besides, like any good capitalist country, of course they are going to try to discourage you from wanting to vote, and only concern yourself with shopping and buying. I recall watching the first debate, and that same night, some guy from CBC, that same government owned news broadcast, said, "did anybody actually watch this debate? No, they are too busy shopping". Garbage.

Uh, I guess it's already been asked, but I haven't really seen an answer, how do you figure?

Um, I think the majority will actually go to the bloq.
Can we talk about what the post was origionaly about? Where will we go with a conservative gov
As LSD said, somewhere pretty similar to here, with another election not too far off, in which I would predict a Liberal majority.
Not around where I live!
If you don't mind me asking, where is that?

Do you support Quebec sepperation?
You know what really pissed me off about this election tho, people constantly *****ing about how they called an election on xmas.
While I agree that it's a rather silly issue to get worked up about, the concern is not how long it takes to vote, it's that campaigning takes place for a long time before the election and the political parties, and alot of the general public, wants the public to be focused on the campaigns rather than something else.
3. Theyre are people in Iraq who risk theyre lives to go vote.
People in Iraq risk their lives living in Iraq, I fail how this has anything to do with whether or not Canada should have their next election around Christmas.
I say its a very good xmas gift to be allowed to go vote. Fucking white trash down here, let me tell you they dont know how good theyve got it. \

Overreaction much? He's just correcting your spelling, not making a mockery of anything, and I doubt very much that he knew English wasn't your first language. Take it easy.

Before the election was called though, a majority of Canadians didn't want an election at all, correct? Although, I agree with you that of course it is a political move on Paul's part, seize any oppertunity.
