"You can't do that," she said. "I have rights. I have the right to free movement. I have human rights. I have the right to be protected under the Constitution of the United States."

The daughter overheard one of them say, "After 9/11, nobody has any rights."

Police states are groovy.

Remember those old Hollywood movies set in the 3rd Reich? The train stops at the German border. Under harsh lights, jack-booted Gestapo thugs demand that people produce their papers. Guard-dogs are standing by. Those on a secret mission of resistance feel their hearts pound. The slightest bureaucratic irregularity can be fatal...

Welcome to the United States. Please enjoy your stay.

LOL, Redstar.

It sounds like they are worse now, but immigration authorities at American airports have always been complete jerks, at least that has been my experience, and I have to travel with my American passport when I travel to the US.

I thought Devlin McAliskey , and her daughter for that matter, handled the situation very well, and I hope they pursue the matter as far as they possibly can. I am sure people who work in immigration purposely try to make people angry so that they can get some sort of thrill out slamming hancuffs on someone in front of their co-workers and any passengers who may see it.

It's not just the foriegn tourists who are or will have trouble. You see, we have an air force base here. Somehow I made friends with a guy named D, or at least that's what he liked to be called.

After several rounds of beer the first night we hung out, I asked him what he did for a living. Turns out he was TDY from Langley (sound familiar?) and his actual job description was classified. I pretty much guessed what he was doing here, as he showed up in town about 6 months after 9/11. In other words, he was in intelligence on a fact finding mission.

We have a fairly sizeable Arab-American population in town, and I figured that's who he was after. Later that same night we got to talking politics, and I happened to mentioned that I was in the SP of Florida. He quickly told me that we would have to talk about something else. He said he liked me, and didn't want to have to put my name in a report to his supervisors.

Oddly enough, aside from working in the "human" intelligence arena, he also seemed to know an awful lot about computer networking. Possibly he was an NSA operative? I don't know.

D has since gone back to Virginia, but that hasn't stopped me from being paranoid. You know, constantly looking over my shoulder. Oh well. If I die tomorrow of a sudden and strange anuerism, you people can read my posts as my eulogy.

Fuck those bastards and their stupid ass security. I used to fly 7 times a year until the stupid security regulations camt into affect they just waste time that our society so preciously needs. Now, I drive everywhere because I don't want to deal with the police absoultley everywhere. Even they watch punks like me. But the truth is if people set their minds to something it will get done. So, their worthless secrurity measures don't mean shit. So, I say fuck 'em and walk everywhere. Big Ups San Diego! Llama...
