CBS 60 Minutes 2 is going to be airing a recent interview about what's going on with Saddam Hussein tonight @ 9 pm.
Bush has decided to call for his own television speech tonight probably as an attemptive preemptive strike against the show.

i thought it was very interesting. on the exterior saddam seems to be much more diplomatic than bush. it's too bad the US government is so quick to discount it. especially since diplomacy was really the only thing that kept the cold war cold for the US. even given that that the pins and needles of diplomacy fueled so much foreign apathy, it seems a shame that the structure of international diplomacy needs to be destroyed in one fell swoop by one simple-minded spoiled son of a *****.

I think Saddam suffers a lot from bad translations, he also tends to add things into his speeches that you really have to know Arab history to understand. Thus, not many westerner s are going to be persuaded by what he has to say, no matter how well written a speech it may be from the Arab perspective.
There's also the slight issue of Saddam being clinically insane, but then again Bush is borderline retarded and he seems to be able to tally a fair degree of public support.

Was that the one with Tony Benn? we had that aired over here a while ago. That interview is a bit out dated now.

Actually I am in favor of a live tv debat, between Saddam and Bush. Saddam surely would confront him with things like: The problems in Iraq due to the embargo, Bush senior's roll in Iraq etc.
But it's never going to happend, considering Bush's hate for journalists who "ask him difficult questions".
Surely the White House doesn't want to loose their carefully built up image.

A bit harsh on Bush's intelligence. 70 is borderline retarded and his IQ is 90 something where the average for western nations is about 100-105

really 90?
where did you get that info?
or is it a guess?
actually 80 is the lowest norm to be allowed at normal schools.

IQ tests aren't accurate readers of intelligence anyway.
IQ tests are the biggest joke ever. There are cultural differences that are not taken into account. A black male living in a New York City ghetto may not know the same things as a wealthy businessman in London but the questions will probably ask the things the businessman would know. But what would the businessman know about the life led by the black man? Nothing. He would not be able to answer an IQ test based on the black mans way of living, but the black man is expected to answer questions about the businessman's way of life to get his nationally recognised intelligence level! The man being black bares no significance by the way. The point is different people in different walks of life know different things. This all accounts to their intelligence, but some cultures are favoured in the types of questions askd.
Completely irrelevant to the thread, just thought I'd tell you not to talk about IQ tests to measure people's intelligence!
