Communist Party of Vietnam: Glorious cause, noble mission
February 3 this year marks the 73rd anniversary of the Communist
Party of Vietnam while the nation is celebrating Tet, the traditional
lunar new year festival.
The past 73 years under the leadership of the Party and President Ho
Chi Minh have seen the country win resounding exploits. The world
shaking August Revolution in 1945 was followed by successes in the
wars of resistance against colonialism and imperialism that liberated
Vietnamese people from slavery to live in a united country that is
forging ahead on its path of development.
More than a quarter of a century has elapsed witnesseing peaceful
national development, especially in the past almost 17 years of
renovation. Under the Partyís leadership, the Vietnamese people have
mounted all hurdles and risen above the challenges to reap ever more
successes for the countryís stable and sustainable growth.
The 9th National Party Congress reasserted the need of fully tapping
the nationís integrated strength to continue with the renovation
process, accelerate industrialisation and modernisation to develop
and safeguard the socialist homeland of Vietnam to turn the country
into an industrialised nation by 2020 for a prosperous and strong
country with an equitable, democratic and civilised society. This
noble cause faces major opportunities and challenges, especially
against the complicated backdrops of world situation. Such a
working class with a correct political guideline in line with the
rule of evolution and peopleís aspirations. The Party is also
required to adopt a creative method of leadership to bring into full
play the strength of great national unity for ever greater
achievements to lift the country from poverty and backwardness. This
follows that all Party organisations at different levels must be
clean and competent in the strategic leadership and organisation with
a high sense of combativeness. Accordingly, each and every Party
member should be exemplary in their work and lifestyle for people to
mirror from. Alongside economic development as a central task, Party
building is also a key assignment.
This can be handled with
continuous implementation of the resolutions adopted at the second
session of the 6th Plenum of the 8th Party Central Committee on self-
criticism and criticism and continued reform of personnel and
organisation work. Marking the Partyís birthday, the country will
persist in its endeavor to for Party building and rectification and
live up to the conclusions drawn up at the fourth and sixth plenums
on making the Party clean and mighty with a dynamic and efficient
mechanism and qualified and competent personnel to accomplish all
assigned tasks.
Heralding the arrival of Spring and the Partyís birthday, the entire
Party, people and army are committed to unity and the successful
implementation of the 9th National Party Congress resolutions and
conclusions of the Party Central Committee. Right after Tet,
everything must be in place to realise socio-economic development
targets for this year and resolutions adopted at the latest , the 7th
Plenum of the Party Central Committee.
