General Strike in Nepal! (with photos!)

Normal life in Nepal’s capital city and outskirts came to a grinding halt today with all public transport crippled and businesses shut down due to the valley bandh called by the seven-party alliance in protest of the shooting to death of 12 civilians by an RNA soldier late Wednesday night. Public anger over Wednesday’s incident led to dozens of private and public vehicles being vandalized and scores injured in clashes between police and protestors. Over a hundred protestors were arrested inside the valley.

The general strike was called for by the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) and the seven-party alliance against the king.
