U.S. Senator Robert Byrd (D-West Virginia) made the following statement on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003.

To contemplate war is to think about the most horrible of human experiences. On this February day, as this nation stands at the brink of battle, every American on some level must be contemplating the horrors of war.

Yet, this Chamber is, for the most part, silent – ominously, dreadfully silent. There is no debate, no discussion, no attempt to lay out for the nation the pros and cons of this particular war. There is nothing.

Atleast not all US senators have their heads stuck up there asses. I wonder how many are afraid of the party whip and keep their mouths shut?

Haha! Yeah, the thing about the senate.. it's a very cushy job... you don't even have to show up, and you won't get fired.

Fuck um!

a salute to Byrd for having some balls.

What really stood out for me in this article is the 50% under 15 demographic... It's like when Tim McVeigh bombed that Fed building with the preschool in it.

The Senate in America actually has to do stuff do they not? I know in Canada they are appointed until they are 75 and they literaly sit on their ass or the prime minister shits down their throats for getting in the way of the democractically (well kinda) elected house of commons.

They sit on committees, haggle back and forth on party issues.. procrastinate in getting anything done.. and mosty do a lot of lobby ass-kissing to get those reelection funds. and of course, unanimously vote to bomb and invade other countries..

3rd Party is desperately needed in the States.
