I did some research on google.
The movie will be called 'Che' and benicio del toro will be Che Guevara in it. It is still in pre-production, so it is still in very early stages, it might not be ready until late 2006 / early 2007.
It got dropped by the first director and then another director took the project up.

Che from the 60's was a horrible movie, made from an American point of view

What about that movie Fidel by Oliver Stone in which Che Guevara's only line seems to be "execute him!"? Wasnt there also another film about Fidel Castro in which Gael García Bernal played Che Guevara (which would make his second film in which he plays Guevara)

Apparently, they are currently filming in New York.
I found this photo of it.

Though Benicio doesn't really look like Che, I hope that his acting skills will make up for this. I think that they should've gotten Gael Garcia Bernal to take the role though there would be the question of language.
Here's another picture of Benicio del Toro preparing for the role of Che.

There are some similar features of course, but he doesn't physically resemble Che as much as Gael does. But Benicio's appearance should be placed second to his acting skills. As long as he portrays Che accurately, I am willing to overlook his appearance.
