Second action of protest against US aggression regarding Iraq took place in Saturday, February 15th. Participants gathered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then went to the US embassy; picket began.
Despite bitter frost thousands of Russians participated in the action, all of them were united with KPRF, which came out against US aggression regarding Iraq. Deputies of State Duma, representatives of parties and social associations participated in the action.
The First Secretary of Moscow’s KPRF committee Kuvaev opened the picket: “Today this action take place in the whole world not by accident. There is a direct threat to the international security; there is a menace of unleashing World War 3. Satisfying its political and economical ambitions USA put a task of redivision of the world. US have pure economical interests, declaring Iraq the center of international terrorism, although this is not true. Iraq may be first in the chain of aggressive actions of US, after Iraq Iran will follow, but it would be much harder over there. There is also a number of Near East countries, where US wants to spread its influence. This is very dangerous tendency; that is why world community sounds the alarm. Today there is a direct threat of usage of tactical nuclear weapon; this can lead to the irreversible consequences. Such US policy may lead to the number of terrorist acts and origin of new terrorist organizations. US have the aim of raising the wave of terror. Our aim is to show this danger to all citizens of Russian Federation and to make them understand that each of them may face this danger tomorrow.”
The leader of KPRF’s Central Committee Zyuganov spoke before picket participants:” Today US unleash the war not only against Iraq, but also against whole mankind. This is a war against whole Arabian world, which consists of 300 millions of people. This is the war against Europe. This is the war against Russia. In the case of capturing the main fields of power resources US would be able to decrease world oil prices to 16 dollars per gallon, this will lead to the downfall of currency system and our production. We must go to each collective, university and school and explain to each young man that this war cancels whole post-war system for which our grandfathers and fathers fought and lost 27 millions of people, it cancels all diplomatic negotiations for the last 200 hundred years and returns the planet back to barbaric times. We must unite all powers against American militarism. We must do everything possible to defend the peace. I am sure that the world and our will would take a victory!”
Deputies of State Duma Romanov and Astrakhina, representative of former communist party of Palestine Kirliza Akhmed, representative of “Bolshevik platform” comrade Khabarova, leader of party “Working Russia” Anpilov, poet Nefedov and others also spoke at the meeting.
It was clear that Russians are not indifferent to what happens in Iraq and each of them understand that Russia may become the next object of such aggression.
