What are your opinions on this? Che's ideals where of communist ones, now in communism, and from what i read money in its present form would be abolished to an extend would not exist.

Did Che allow his portrait to be printed on the Cuban notes (dont remember which value of note it was) or was it after his death? If it was when he was alive its something to think about, i dont doubt his ideals one bit, but its just something i thought of today?

Anyhow Viva la Revolucion y Hasta Siempre Commandante Che Guevara!

In Communism money would be abolished. However, Cuba has never claimed to be Communist geographic area. It is referred to as a Socialist state and in Socialism, there is money.

This is news to me. A source would be nice. :)

Indeed Cuba is, but i`m talking about Che not cuba, Che studied Marx very thoroughly, he himself was a marxist so he know the concept of communism, this is what i`m refering to, not to Cuba's system.

I'm not too sure that Che actually did "study Marx thoroughly." At least in his early years. It is more than likely he read Stalin and perhaps Lenin, maybe even some Trotsky or Mao. "Studying Marx" usually took a "back seat" and budding revolutionaries read the "vanguard" writers.
__________

Though, I don't fully understand the question you are asking? .....are you asking whether Che would have liked his face on money? .....or whether Che wanted to see a money-less society?

The portrait of Che was added after his death, although his signature was present before he died, as he was president of The National Bank of Cuba.

Perhaps I am wrong.

However, the Korda picture of Che did not even become famous until Che was assassinated in Bolivia. I am sure it wasn't really used until then.

Even if he was alive when the banknote with his face was made, it doesn't matter. Remember that he signed the the banknotes with a provocative "che" as to poke or make fun at the making and usage of money.

Che's signature was on the cuban notes because of his function in the Governement.

But in terms of the greater question around Che's image being used commercially... yes, I'd imagine he'd hate it!

A more sensitive topic is the use of Che's image on t-shirts, etc. sold in Cuba. The sad fact is that due to the embargo, etc. Cubans have had to do some things to bring money that they would not do otherwise (eg toursism). :( But it is better than what they had before. If Che were around, I'm not sure how he would have handled the problem or if he'd have a better solution. Bottom line, the whole situation (embargo, etc.) sucks, but I think the Government is doing a good job considering.
