You are unaware, but Red Leader and I are classmates. Our politics class has decided to partake in a learning experience where we have been given the oppurtunity to write a draft bill for the Ontario Provincial Parliament. Many high-schools in the province submitted their ideas and five of them were selected to be chosen from, classes will pick one of the five, and write a draft bill. The three parties in Provincial Parliament will then decide on one of the five types of bills proposed. The chosen bill will be forwarded to a group of legal staff which will write in all their complicated political jargon and ultimately the bill will be proposed in parliament by one of the provincial MPs.
This is the issue that our class has decided to write a bill about:
4) POSTING EMPLOYEE RIGHTS
This idea seeks to encourage employers to provide students with basic information about labour law. The idea would require workplaces to display a poster containing basic worker's rights, such as the right to refuse unsafe work. This was put forward by a student who was angry his friend had to pay $20 to be re-issued a lost paycheque.
So, our request from you is to help us write this bill. We want to get as much feedback, resources, points, ideas, paragraphs for the bill that you would like to see. Remember, try not to make it too leftist or else it will almost certainly not be considered by all three parties. Try to make something that appeals to liberal and conservative parties as well if you really want such a bill to be passed.
Anyways, we're not trying to get you to do our homework but it sure would be cool if you were to help out just so we can better appeal to the masses as oppose to just two highschool kids.
Thank you, and,
Enjoy.
