did anybody here besides me see the Daily Show interview with Bill O'Reilly where he said that france was our enemy, and that his boycott against france is still in existance. Does anybody know anything about this boycott, it's effectivness and whatnot.

Well it does sound foolish. France was never the American enemy. Even when they were objecting to the war in iraq, they were helping the American effort in adghanistan.
Of course it did give the right wing another way too boost american chauvanism and oppose 'old europe.' This was however entirley for domestic consumption i feel.

You can be a miserable scrote if you want, but I'm using christmas as the perfect excuse to eat lots of food, drink lots of alcohol, be merry and enjoy the company of friends and family. That's the true spirit of christmas, going back to before the Christians stole it from the pagans.
Christmas is just another American holiday.
Wrong, christmas is celebrated all over the world, even in countries were christians are in the minority such as Japan.

Well I ment to show it as a national (multi) holiday, not the religious holiday it was once thought of.

Now I put to the good people of this forum that we open up a new game show. What we do is, we take one moron every day starting with Bill O'reilly, a razor and container of salt. We put one cut on him every 15 minutes and rub salt into it. All the while they must sit looking at a clock on the wall that says, 'You have x amount of time to live' and when it reaches zero, everyone jumps around and screams at the top of their voice.
In this way we can dispatch one idiot a day.

Why does anyone get worked up about this non-entity???
O'Reilly is just another, in a long list of many, neo-conservative and hyper-American nationalist xenephobic media pundits who use their airtime to spew out BS and baseless delusions aimed at the reactionary audience in the U$A.
There are hundereds of media pundits just like him and even some worst and more reactionary than him.
There will always be some segment in the U$ population who will follow this reactionary garbage, that has no basis for it's position based on facts, and who will always follow the line of the ruling class and the reactionary footsoldiers in the Christian fundamentalist movement.
Those who believe the Earth is only 6000 years old, those who believe AIDS is a punishment from god on homosexuals, those who believe that communism is the way of Satan.
These are the people that O'Reilly appeals and speaks to. Neo-conservatism does this more than other segments of the conservative political tradition, appeal to your core base of support and use tribal chest beating to rally the faithfull to the cause.
Let us instead use our energy to put our message across rather than waste our energy on moaning about O'Reilly, who could not care less of what we thought of him anyways.

Bill O'Reilly is about as ignorant and uninformed as one gets. He has no clue what he's talking and has no credibility whatsoever. Why boycott France? They didn't stop the US from invading Iraq. Why not boycott Saudi Arabi by riding a bike? Were most of the 9-11 hijakers not Saudi? Is Bin Laden Saudi? Does the House of al-Saud not finance al Qaeda?

The people who make up his target audience are more fitting of that description.
O'Reilly is not stupid, just reactionary and delusional. The difference being he has access to information about and may even know that the political movement he supports is the cause of the global oppression of the proletariat and it's suffering.
O'Reilly is just saying what he and the ruling class want the ignorant shits who make up the footsoldiers of the U$ Christian fundamentalist 'Moral/Silent Majority' movement to think.
and has no credibility whatsoever.
Outside of the core base of Republican supporters, that is a univerisal opinion.
Why boycott France? They didn't stop the US from invading Iraq.
It is an easy external force to blame, classic and much used tactic by the ruling class to keep the people behind their imperialist plots.
Why not boycott Saudi Arabi by riding a bike? Were most of the 9-11 hijakers not Saudi? Is Bin Laden Saudi? Does the House of al-Saud not finance al Qaeda?
Saudi Arabia has large oil supplies, is in the region where global shipping routes connect Asia, Africa and Europe and allows for the U$ to have military bases there.
The U$, whatever it's disagreements with Saudi Arabia, would never antagonise the Royal Family as that could either result in the Royal Family being deposed and Bin Laden gaining control or the Royal Family, without any major western allies, could turn to Bin Laden and become an anti-western regime.
Out of all the Middle Eastern nations to invade, the U$ would commit suicide by attacking Saudi Arabia, as the attack on the cities of Mecca and Medina would cause every muslim nation to declare war on the US, including nuclear armed Pakistan.
It is easier for the U$ capitalist class to have the status quo upheld in Saudi Arabia as it is the best option for U$ capitalism.
Of course, liberals, reformists and pacifists or anyone who does not view the world through the class struggle and the capitalist system willl not pick up on this, despite it being of vital importance.
