Hi comrades, so I was arguing with someone about how colonialism created poverty in the third world and enriched the first world. This is an idea I've accepted as I've learned more about the world, however I was challenged by someone to give hard statistics showing a country which was poorer when European colonizers left than they were before the White man came. Can anyone point me in the direction of a book or any research that gives statistics on this?

im a little out of it so dont have the necessary brainstuff to search it myself but look up slavery and indentured labour, it was basically the transportation of humans to work on plantations and farms and homes far far away to enrich the invaders. also search how africa was stripped of so much of its natural resources by the french belgian british german portuguese etc. australia how they stole land off the indigenous people - didnt even recognise them as human. tgere are so many things i cant even think of them now sorry im just really tired. i dont have any hard stats and i know that thats what youre after. ill look tomorrow when im awake

mmmmmm gnite

Thanks, yeah I'm aware of a lot of colonialism's effects on Africa and in the New World and Asia, I'm just looking for a book that really gets in depth into the process.

Good stuff to say about colonialism? I hope you mean it has bad stuff to say about it. Colonialism had many negative effects on the countries that were colonized.

Yea, that is what I meant, sorry if I caused any confusion about it.

I meant to say that he had good insights on the subject of colonialism.
