Most workers in the U.S. range from upper middle class, to actual working class and in ghettos. The majority of these people would be lower to upper middle class. I know my dad is considered upper middle class, becuase he owns a very nice home in the country type area here, but he works his ass off everyday from 4 a.m.(has to get up earlier becuase its like a 2 hr drive to work) until 4 p.m. but usually works overtime every chance its offered. That is the case with many familys, and I just don't think anything progressive will happen in the U.S. becuase

1. The corporations and govornment have and infinte weave of how they rule smaller companys and how they operate.

2. Many of the workers are quite happy or appeased I should say because they think they really have a say with the Unions

3. Workers abuse Unions and sometimes don't really do any work(street construction here takes forever becase they get paid per hour instead of per job, so they take as much time as they want so they get paid more)

I know there are some Unions and workers that reall do want change, but for a revolution you need the masses and I just don't see the masses getting behind communism unless another Depression hits.

The conditions may not exist for a full out revolution NOW, but rest assured, they will.

Four words: Oil, Unrest, Economic Decline.

Watch in the coming years.

Ownthink is correct. After all capitalism is self liquidating.

This post is ridiculous.

1. "The corporations and govornment have and infinte weave of how they rule smaller companys and how they operate."

A business is a business. They all exploit us, and they will all have to go. Enterprises with more capital dominate enterprises with less capital, in any country in the world.

2. "Many of the workers are quite happy or appeased I should say because they think they really have a say with the Unions"
I don't really think people are that happy--and the sources of the happiness that does exist certainly isn't because people think their unions are democratic. The vast majority of the working class aren't even in unions. And unions today are almost without exception bureaucratic mediators that at best do nothing for workers. And as for people being so happy... ya think so? Why do so many proles try to escape reality with drugs, alcohol, fighting, religion etc...? Why when there is a disruption of order (like during Katrina) do people loot and shoot at cops.

3. "Workers abuse Unions and sometimes don't really do any work(street construction here takes forever becase they get paid per hour instead of per job, so they take as much time as they want so they get paid more)"
This is condescending bullshit. I don't care what job I'm working at, I'm gonna try to do as little as I can at work. it's not like I chose to be there, it's not like my work is benefitting me, or anyone other than my boss, even if I am getting paid enough to survive on.

I think it elitist and condescending to say we need a depression before workers will fight back. There is real class struggle going on every day in the US. The reality is that we're losing pretty badly. Globalization has undermined the traditional power of the working class in industry. Wages, access to healthcare and decent housing have been declining at the same time the cost of living (especially transportation) have be rising. A depression in and of itself will only make our lives worse. Economic crisis doesn't in itself take us closer to communism, and more than economic boom does... only proletarian self-activity can.
