I'm contemplating finding a large billboard in my area and 'vandalizing it'. How would one approach this?

where I live, a few months ago someone went around to every McDonalds billboard in the city (well, all the ones I saw) and wrote McBollocks... good times...

How do you steal a billboard with nobody noticing?

What you are reffering to is called Culture Jamming. Some links that would be of interest to you:

As someone alluded to earlier, the success of these campaigns in changing people's opinions is questionable. If nothing else, they're catchy though :)

McBollocks! That is one of the funniest things I have heard today.

Thank you for brightening my day :)

Adbusters is a really good magazine
in one they had a fake ticket that you could tear out and put on SUVs for crimes against the environment

I usually stick to paintballing the local McDonalds or, when its up and running, Republican HQ....

Vandalising a billboard is something I haven't done. I suppose if you had friends, time, and help you could do something cool with it..... not sure what though.

The point of "subvertising" (the act of taking ads and changing their meaning through what I call creative redirecting) is to fuck over the company that paid money for the ad. They'll have to replace it, and if you do it again, they may even hire security (something me and my friends have instigated here) which costs them out the ass.

Anyone that lives in Wisconsin knows that this is a big time place for that pro-life bullshit. Granted I'm Catholic myself but I get so fucking irritated when I see one of those. I've always wanted to vandal that garbage. You guys know what billboards I'm talking about?

No, sorry, but I think what they do to billboards in Fight Club was pretty funny. Make the change subtle, so people don't notice it right out, but when they do it cracks them up and if you're lucky, makes them think as well.

....and here!
because there are so many other things you can do to those huge nasty in-your-face billboards than just vandalizing it with paint

Yeah, got 'em in ohio too. I especially dislike the ones that pretend to be some kind of "help line" for pregnant teens to explain their options, but it's really just a pro-life scam to talk teens out of abortions.

Is there any way to get bb-gun paintball pellets of some sort? If so, provided you have decent aim, you could sit a hundred yards from the billboard and write whatever message you want. It might take a little while, though. You may be better off just running up and throwing a bucket of paint on it.

You could try using a sling (method explained a couple topics back) and a lot of paintball pellets

All you need is a few cans of environmently-safe spray paint and a mask, and you can write whatever you want. For best results, painter's tape helps ALOT when you want clean lines. The only reason I suggust you don't use traditional paint is it is very bulky and unwieldy, especialy when you are moving around.
