A War Crime or an Act of War?
By Stephen C. Pelletiere
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. -- It was no surprise that President Bush, lacking smoking-gun evidence of Iraq's weapons programs, used his State of the Union address to re-emphasize the moral case for an invasion: "The dictator who is assembling the world's most dangerous weapons has already used them on whole villages, leaving thousands of his own citizens dead, blind or disfigured."
The accusation that Iraq has used chemical weapons against its citizens is a familiar part of the debate. The piece of hard evidence most frequently brought up concerns the gassing of Iraqi Kurds at the town of Halabja in March 1988, near the end of the eight-year Iran-Iraq war. President Bush himself has cited Iraq's "gassing its own people," specifically at Halabja, as a reason to topple Saddam Hussein.
But the truth is, all we know for certain is that Kurds were bombarded with poison gas that day at Halabja. We cannot say with any certainty that Iraqi chemical weapons killed the Kurds. This is not the only distortion in the Halabja story.

Since we all agree that Bill O'Reilly should be considered a God, he already had a conversation concerning this theory. And he proved that idiot wrong. The said idiot, made a complete ass of himself on national television, just like many of you would. That's why all your views are done on a message board.
Saddam killed his own people and many other people. That's a motherfuckin' fact.

Well, obviously Bush isn't as dumb as many of you think. He was able to get both parts of congress led by Republicans. He did a hell of a job during the State of the Union address. His address to the U.N. has also been pretty strong. All in all, he's an exceptable speaker.

Right, Bush does not make up his own speech, his advisors and other staff make up his speech. His speech to the Union just tried to up his image like he is looking into the economy and iraq. So much deception though he helps the rich man while the poor man thinks he is the one getting helped. You know bush lets not forget his little baseball team scandal. Its the american way screw your fellow man in the ass.

iraq had its own unoficial minister for chemical warfare nicknamed Ali Chemical. he started the policy of gassing the kurds, just to clear things up.

An interesting article, examining whether or not the Halabja gassings were committed by Iraqis or Iranians. They seem to feel is was the Iranians. I place it here in case anyone is interesting in breaking taboo and looking at the event from a different angle.
Personally, I'm undecided as to who I think did it - considering the fact that quite a bit of anti-Iraq propaganda from the first Gulf War has since been proven as lies, I'd be very careful to believe anything that anyone claims about the history of that region. (No, I'm not saying that Halabja didn't happen, but I am saying that it's very hard to tell WHO did it.)
Unless you're there, you've really go no idea whatsoever, and are in no place to make any judgements. Sorry, I'm just getting a little tired of people claiming how bad Iraq is when they've got no idea whatsoever. I'm still of the - perhaps misguided - belief that people know better than to rely on war propaganda.
Prove me correct, guys.

What's your point?
Hitler was a good speaker too and won the favor of almost whole Germany.
And does the name Toxic Texas say anything to you? You know, he hasn't been nicked that way for nothing.
