Introduction (New here)

Hello, I'm RedMenace and I've been an adherent of one variant of Marxism or another since I was in high school. My favorite books are Trotsky's "In Defense of Marxism" and "The Revolution Betrayed". I like Lenin's "The State and Revolution" for its class analysis of pre-soviet Russia and some of Mao's work for the same reason (whoever translated the "Collected Works of Mao-Tse Tung" into English was surely a poet at heart :) ). I have been, at times, a Fabian Socialist and a Trotskyite supporter of Permanent Revolution, as well as an anti-capitalist Green. I was born and raised in the United States of America (with all respect to our Latino Comrades who also deserve to use the title "Americans").

I look forward to sharing ideas with my Comrades here. This is a big site... the largest I've seen... and I hope that my involvement will prove fruitful.

Certainly. I'm saying that Latin Americans and North Americans all have the right to be called "American". For example, Canadians, Mexicans, Guatemalans, Panamanians, Columbians, Venezuelans, Argentines etc. are all also Americans. The use of the word to exclusively refer to people from the USA is essentially wrong and divisive, in my opinion. Everyone in the Americas is an American.
