Hey guys,

I was wondering which political papers you recommend I should read, i'm based in the UK.

I currently have a subscription with the Militant and it's a pretty good source of information, what do you guys think of the Militant?

I also got www.socialistparty.org.uk 's newspaper last week and was impressed.

Which newspaper/s should I read and which ones should I stay from?

I'm talking mostly about left-wing/socialist/communist papers not tabloids or anything.

Cheers,
Noah

PS. I apologise if this is in the wrong section of the forum!

it's not a newspaper, but check out the publication Monthly Review (http://www.monthlyreview.org) if you get a chance. it's one of the oldest socialist journals in the US, and still going strong. Albert Einstein's essay "Why Socialism?" was published in their first issue. they interviewed Che Guevara and Malcolm X back in the day. definitely worth subscribing to.

they have a daily ezine too: MRZine (http://www.mrzine.org).

The militans a good newspaper. Socialist appeal's a good paper, but a lot of its articles are on marxist.com, its only bought out on a monthly basis as well.

If you liked the UK Socialist Worker, then you may enjoy the American Socialist Worker newspaper (which actually no longer has a connection to the British one, and holds some different opinions), you can read it online at: http://www.socialistworker.org/ .

Also, in my opinion one of the best left-wing/Socialist publications is the International Socialist Review, an in-depth scholarly Socialist publication: http://www.isreview.org/ .

Australia's leading left-wing newspaper (we have plenty of international news, including a bureau in Venezuela).

There is no 'bad' or 'good' newspaper to read.

You have to ask yourself that question and as no one on RL really knows you and you know yourself best, YOU have to decide the answer to that question.

If you are talking about socialist/communist/revolutionary newspapers, then ask yourself where you stand on the different sections of the far-left.

Trotskyist or stalinist, reformist or revolutionary, vanguardist or libertarian communist???

If you know where you stand, you will know what newspaper best suits your own views and which makes the most enjoyable read.

My advice, if you have £10 to spare, just buy one issue of EVERY far-left newspaper and read the lot, then you will know which one/s are for you and which are not.
