Hey guys,

I've seen many people literally worship Tupac, was he in anyway political?

Many say he is dead and many say he is away hiding somewhere.

I'm not really into this type of music but i'm just wondering if there are any Tupac fans on this board and what's so good about him compared to 50Pence or Akorn?

Some people see him almost revolutionary but what has he done to make him fit the criteria?

Cheers,
Noah.

But you are quite the Big L stan Josh, any thread on Tupac you have to mention Big L, LOTPAD and DITC (Don't get me wrong Big L was class, but this thread isn't about him).

Anyhew. Tupac was an excellent rapper, full of raw emotion, he came from a Black Panther family, which formed the basis of his political beliefs throughout his life, his collection is one of raps best.

50cent is a monstrosity for the rap game, I'm shocked and quite frankly appauled that some people on here actually like him/his music, Akon is a singer not rapper.

He's ho-hum...download 'Dear Mama', 'Brenda's Got A Baby', 'Changes' and 'To Live & Die In L.A' then make your own mind up...no real political standing...naeve to a point but can also be inspiring...your better off with Immortal Technique or The Coup anyway...Slick Rick for da ol' skool shiznit...

Oh...also...50 Cent sucks...and blows...I don't even think that's possible!

BTW - Big L is actually better than 2Pac but there's no point comparing them, their styles where totally different....

So what do you guys think most likely dead or possibility he could be in hiding (don't know why some people suggest it!)?

Tis true. I should have chosen a less obvious user name.

But seriously, I do think he's dead. I don't have much time for conspiracy theories.

Tupac was indeed political and it stems much from his Panther upbringing and is more evident in other songs than Changes and Brenda. Tracks like Letter to the President, Young Black Male, Trapped, White Mans World, diffrent poems, and his first two albums to get a feel for it.

P.S. He's dead.

Tupac was one of my favorite rappers of all time, i dont have to give a reason for it. But i think he might be alive but if he is, he is a coward lol...Apparently he is living in south america under the name of jamal something i dont know but, brendas got a baby and letter to my unborn child is really good. How dare you compare him to 50 lmao 50 just really annoys me, i understand he got a kid and everything but fuck, how can you lie to yourself and say thats music or even say its hip hop?

Better off listening to Technique, zearle, paris, dead prez, pac, eyedea, nas, Pun, BiG L.....

Indeed except for a little old school rap here and there (i.e. Eazy-E, Snoop, Dre, etc.).

He indeed rapped about many political issues of his time, which showed the angry and passionate political activist that he was.

Many say he is dead and many say he is away hiding somewhere.

Yeah, a lot of people believe the conspiracy theories of 2Pac a.k.a. "Makaveli" ("mak alive" or "make alive" -- this is just one of the many evidence that supports his existence today). Personally I find it funny, but it just shows how great of an impact he left on "hip hop heads."

I'm not really into this type of music but i'm just wondering if there are any Tupac fans on this board and what's so good about him compared to 50Pence or Akorn?

lol..well 50 cents and such half-ass rappers are commercial, and they very much exploit the culture of Hip Hop. Although 2Pac did have several commercial hits, he is unlike today's rappers, who focus mainly on wealth and women.

Some people see him almost revolutionary but what has he done to make him fit the criteria?

I woudn't consider him a revolutionary of any kind. He was just a unique rapper. Politically, he was moved by black nationalism and radical politics but then again he admired Machiavelli at the end of his days. He had 2 sides to him - good and a bad one. But nevertheless, he was an influential artist.
