I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me the difference between Capitalism and Communism - I'm a little stumped. :blink:

Wow that's a big question, I think the best way to find out is to read about them. Personally I think the concept of capitalism is much simpler than communism.
I'll tell you what i did, I went on wikipedia and typed in each one and read about them and their history. This gave me a brief idea.
Then I read the 'communist manifesto' which helped me grasp the idea of communism.
From there on all you have to do is research about the history of capitalism and what it's done colonialism and conflict ect. and about the economy this will help you grasp the idea. Also read debate on this website about subjects relating to communism and capitalism and so on and try to give some input yourself so your knowledge and ideas can flourish!
I'm sure other more knowledgable members will have other good advice too on this matter too.

Capitalism is characterized by three things, mainly. These being:
-private property
-wage labor
-the existence of a 'market' for buying and selling goods; this is the means of distribution
Communism, on the other hand, destroys private property (it creates public property), abolishes wage labor, and dismantles the 'market'.
