I wrote this little pamphlet about the present state and future prospects of socialism. Since I consider myself an advancing socialist theorist, I would like to hear your opinions and thoughts about this topic. After all, what has happened to the fervor of the socialist revolution? Where have the vanguard and the Ches and Maos gone to? Has the socialist movement itself been reduced to an impersonal and selfish state concerned only with advancing itself by gaining political power rather than aiding the masses as its forefathers did?
The present state of the masses
These days the energy and fervor of socialism have all but died. With the exception of a few countries where change is impossible like Nepal, most socialist parties have sat down and joined their former enemies in jockeying for power. Although socialist organizations have failed in their ultimate goal of creating a utopia on Earth, their cries have at least brought some change for the common people. But has the bourgeoisie been eradicated and power given to the people? No. The bourgeoisie have simply caste aside their skins for newer and sneakier ones. They have simply sacrificed some of their power in order to appease and calm the revolutionary tide that threatened to sweep them away. Through this they have been able to subjugate the workers once again. However this time it is the workers themselves who have become the forgers of their own chains. They have allowed themselves to be seduced by petty distractions and luxuries produced by the bourgeoisie. Now the workers have become comfortable and ignorant of their own state. By becoming the tools of their own subjugation, workers have done what guns and cannon have been unable to do, therefore making the job much easier for the conniving bourgeoisie. Workers are now too satisfied and content with their lives to attempt any further change. The bourgeoisie have almost completely beguiled the workers into thinking that they have made great improvements in their lives. They have filled the workers with false propaganda, which has caused them to detest what they should embrace. The workers must realize this and become aware of their servitude to the bourgeoisie so that they may cast off the petty bonds that have been placed on them. Should this be done, the workers will be able to shake the foundations of society and place the selfish and greedy bourgeoisie where they belong. The socialist parties of the world must unite and guide the workers in order to prevent the domination of the bourgeoisie once again.
