'We're Unbowed And Unapologetic' - Vows Gallagher
Tuesday 15th November 2005

A leading member of the IRSP in Strabane has denounced a series of police raids on an ex-INLA prisoners' group as a further attempt to demonise anti Good Friday Agreement republicans.

Former INLA prisoner, Willie Gallagher, claimed the operation on October 27 - which saw raids on Teach na Failte, 23 homes and two business premises in Strabane --had effectively closed down the ex-prisoners' centre. But he insisted the operation would only strengthen the resolve of those who worked on the project.

Mr. Gallagher's home was among those searched during the operation believed to be connected to a series of robberies in the town, including a high profile raid on the local Ulster Bank branch.

He was speaking at the annual IRSP commemoration held in Strabane on Sunday. Several hundred activists and supporters from Belfast, Derry and across the North West attended the event which attracted a large police presence.
