I am a Jewish Quaker - I beleive in nonviolence, equality, truth, and simplicity.

I've been involved with leftism ever since the summer before my freshman year in high school - I am currently in my junior year. Originally I was a Marxist, but I moved on to non-Marxist communism, and then to anarchism, then to democratic socialism. I have since abandoned all political labels.

I consider myself to be a member of the Religious Left, which does exist and, in fact, is growing in size.

I do not seek to convert any of you to my faith. In fact, I am completely opposed to proselytizing. I believe that my religion is what is right for me, and that what you believe is what is right for you.

I'd be very happy to answer any questions about myself, my beliefs or any of that. I apologise if I have overestimated how much interest I would be to this community.

I run a blog with another Jew, though it's mostly about religious matters - countering the right-wing interpretations of the Bible and similar things. Anyway, if you're interested:

You're posting an introductory thread after having been here 7 months?

Not that I'm objecting, it's just a little ...odd...

I joined a while ago, but then exam week struck, and then the server was down and then, lo, in my mind RevLeft was no more.

Welcome comrade
"When you have given everything, you have everything to gain."

Non-marxist communism? I find it hard to believe there would be such a thing.

Oh yes. There were many non-Marxist communists. Fourier, for example.
