I think Che also had some Irish blood in him from his mothers side. If my memory serves me well his mother's family name was Lynch.

Like most South Americans, I'm sure he was native South American, with some European, but I don't know for sure.

Mestizo? If you know anything about Che and Argentina you will know he is white. His mother was Irish and father was Spanish. Yes Spanish from Spain. Argentina is 90% white so I dont know about that whole most of Latin America thing.

No one in Argentina is actually from Argentina, my grandmother's Spanish, and my grandfather's Lithuanian, but both are from Argentina.

This is quoted from the wikipedia
One of Guevara's forebears, Patrick Lynch, was born in Galway, Ireland in 1715. He left for Bilbao, Spain, and traveled from there to Argentina. Francisco Lynch (Guevara's great-grandfather) was born in 1817, and Ana Lynch (his beloved grandmother) in 1861. Her son Ernesto Guevara Lynch (Guevara's father) was born in 1900. Guevara Lynch married Celia de la Serna y Llosa in 1927 and they had five children.

I'm not sure if "white" it the best category to put him in. I mean some people would argue that Spaniards aren't white. I think some have argued the same about the "black irish" and Italians. While Che's heritage has strong European influences the fact that he was a Latin American would desqualify him from being labeled as "white". Unlike our counter parts towards the North, Latin America is famous for its "jungle fever policy" Which makes most of us a combination of 3 groups. Spanish/Portugese European, Native Indian, and African. I mean my mom could pass as black and my dad could pass as white. Not to mention I have a blonde cousin. Us Latin Americans are VERY mixed.

White would be the category to put him in, because white is a color not an ethnicity. But who really cares? I think this conversation has become ridiculous.

If that is the case lets call him olive! and yes this conversation has about exhausted itself.

Che was an olive-tint white because he was part Basque. His ethnic background however was primarily Spanish and Irish.

I don't know about you guys but, who cares if the man was white or not? I mean, if he had been black, chinese or an indian I would still follow his example and ideals. Example and ideals do not have color or ethnicity.
