I watched the third volume of Batman the Animated series (DVD boxset) and noticed what a wasted potential they had in Ra's al Ghul.

In "The Demon's Quest" al Ghul points out that far all the wealth Batman as Bruce Wayne gives out for humanintarian reasons the world is still no better off.

Al Ghul: "Look at it detevtive, one of the last of the rainforests. The world depends on its oxygens yet the rich only see profit in its destruction. You who belong to the overclass have much to answer for.

Batman: Bruce Wayne donates millions of dollars a year to preserve these forests.

Al Ghul: "Which are being depleted at the rate of 120,000 acers a day, does your money solve this problem? No, it will take more then wealth it will take power and I fear ruthlessness"

In "Showdown" Al Ghul shows some compasion for his workers and points out his son Arcady was too crule to be his heir.

Which brings Batman constant refusal to be Al Ghuls heir, Al Ghul only wants Batman to contune his work of overthrowing the world order and it seems Batman would have the freedom to do it his way if he accepted Al Ghuls offer yet Batman takes no intrest in inheriting Al Ghuls underground empire to bring a new world order.

I find this cheap that the writers don't even have Batman entertain the idea.

Scarecrow is better than both of them.

yet Scarecrow has no goal that is compatible to Batmans while Ra's al Ghul does it is just that Batman's moral code prevents Batman from seriously having any lasting progress towards that goal.

Scarecrow's goal is to drug everyone up and scare them to death, literally; which is awsome.

Correct, if Batman lets Scarecrow has his way he would just scare the citizens of Gothem to death, on the other hand Ra's al Ghul goal is new world order. Scarecrow isn't in the same leauge as Ra's al Ghul, Ra'al Ghul commands a unground empire, if he wanted to he could have Gotham occupied by his armies yet Ra's al Ghul goals are much more larger then just Gotham.

My point is that Scarecrow kicks a substantial amount of ass and is my fucking hero.
