Do Leonard Peltier, from the American Indian Movement. His attorney is also a college proffesor at the University of Colorado, I took a class of his last year.

Pramoedya Ananta Toer is a socialist writer from Indonesia who was jailed for many years under Suharto, and is an interesting figure all-around. I personally enjoy choosing people for projects who are not well-known where I live, so that teachers and the students I present the project to don't have any mistaken preconceptions, as would be the case with someone like Mumia. The disadvantage is that it is harder to make the person's life interesting or relevant to students if he or she is from a country that most of them don't have any knowledge of.

Rosa Luxemburg, Eugene Debs, Leon Trotsky, and the anarchists who lead the Haymarket strike in Chicago.

Speaking of which, were Eugene Debs and Leonard Peltier the only activists to run for presidency while in prison?

Is this allowed to include dead persons? If so I sincerely suggest you check out the case of the Irish Hunger Strikers; ten brave men who sacrificed their lives in defense of Irish Republicanism.

http://larkspirit.com/hungerstrikes/

Also, I would suggest you investigate (good choice of words there) the brilliant, brave, revolutionary Irish Marxist leader Sean Garland who is now being extradited to Guantanamo Bay on trumped-up charges of "money-laundering" (whatever that is) involving our comrades in North Korea.

Explain.

7th December 2005, 02:00
Huey was accused of murdering Kathleen Smith, a 17 year old prostitute. When he was supposed to appear in court he didn't show, a warrent was put out, and he fled to Cuba for three years. He came back and was acquitted of the murder of after two juries were deadlocked.

Did he do it? I don't know.

rebelworker
7th December 2005, 23:02
Unfortunatly Huey kind of lost it in his later days, he was a victim of major CIA mind control and perconality manipulation programs, his abuse of coke was part of that and didnt help things.

For more see the increadible doc.
All Power To The people: The Balck panthers and Beyond

It would be sad if he did kill her.

But I also wouldnt be suprised if it was totally cooked up by the Govt, similar things were done against BLA and AIM soldiers

For more on the govt campaign check the COINTELPRO papers book by ward Churchill

WUOrevolt
8th December 2005, 22:46
I agree that the charges against Huey could have been cooked up, as they had been in the past, and the fact that he was found innocent of the crime makes me lean toward him not doing it, but im still not sure.
